Vuyiswa Sidzumo is the Director of the Ford Foundation’s Southern Africa office. She oversees all of the foundation’s grantmaking in the region and leads the team to promote the growth of philanthropy in Southern Africa and support the work of our grantees. Prior to this, she served as the Programme Officer for the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, before becoming the Country Director in 2009. She has also worked within the South African government, for the United Nations Development Programme, and the Sedibeng Centre for Organisational
Effectiveness. She is the Chair of the steering committee of the Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group, serves on the
editorial board of the Annual Review of South African Philanthropy and is a trustee of The Listen Charity South
Africa. Vuyiswa is a scientist by training, holding an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of the Witwatersrand.
